It’s Finally Here!

In today’s article I will present to you for the first time the Official Carlos Santos 2023 Collection by The Noble Shoe.

A total of 11 models that I spent a lot of time thinking about and the result did not disappoint me.

Hopefully, you will love them too.

An Exclusive Collection

It is no secret that The Noble Shoe is my business.

One of the leading online stores to buy the best shoes and boots in the world.

Thanks to my experience with most shoe brands in the world, I am also able to offer unparalleled customer service and fitting advice.

Additionally, I studied and practice Bespoke Shoemaking which makes me a rather knowledgeable person in the industry.

While this blog is about all things shoes and clothes, I rarely feature dedicated articles about the shop.

From time to time however I do showcase articles to show you some of the things that I have been working on.

Let me tell you, today’s article is just the tip of the iceberg for this year.

This time, I delved deep into the archives of Carlos Santos and researched hundreds of models.

I combined them with my creativity and using a fusion of lasts, leathers, colors and details created The Noble Shoe 2023 Collection.

Since the shop has an extremely good core of dress shoes, this time I focused on both dressy and casual, boots, interesting textures and colors.

This year in particular we will be much more prepared with a summer collection than 2022.

Let’s begin and let’s keep it simple.

1. Carlos Santos Hiking Boot

I decided to venture into unknown territory with this one.

The last time I made a hiking boot it was a nice calf boot with shearling lining.

Here I decided to fuse my newfound love for grain leather with a bolder design and appropriate construction.

The top is from the fantastic scotchgrain that Carlos Santos has and in fact is not a patina.

For construction, we have a Norwegian “Zip” Welt borrowing inspiration from the Crockett & Jones Molton.

The Carlos Santos 234 Last is an appropriate choice as it’s rounder but still stylish.

We finish things up with a commando sole to complete the aesthetic I was looking for.

The elephant in the room here is the single buckle which is a design choice that hopefully you will like.

A rugged, stylish and kick-ass pair that is sure to attract looks and compliments.

2. Carlos Santos Kudu Grain Chukkas

The Kudu Boots at The Noble Shoe were a smashing success and this is no less thanks to the unique leather.

Made from wild Kudu Antelope with all the natural marks of each animal, it is a casual yet visually impressive texture.

How do you translate that success to another style while keeping the same characteristics?

You transfer them to one of the most important wardrobe casual staples a man can have of course.

A Chukka Boot in dark brown kudu grain leather with a storm welt.

This solid construction pairs well with a commando sole and looks smart on the 445 Last.

3. Carlos Santos Waxy Bull Boots

This particular boot was a gamble because I had no experience with the leather and the design was really bold.

Behold however this absolutely sensational boot with shearling lining.

The leather is a waxy suede of shrunken bull/taurus.

Extremely soft, extremely durable and stunning up close to make an indestructible boot that will patina gracefully.

It shares the same Norwegian Welt as the first model, albeit without the zip welt.

The choice of last was the 387 which is a soft square shape with a bold commando sole finish.

I am still on the fence about offering this just with shearling lining so I might offer it also without.

4. Carlos Santos Scotchgrain Boots

For this one, I don’t need to explain too much.

It is exactly the same model as above but in a dark brown scotchgrain leather.

Same features, same last, but a different rubber sole for a more dressy profile.

This is a model that will replace the outgoing Coimbra Patina Calf Chukka Boots on the store.

I think it looks brilliant and at $350 will be an absolute bargain.

5. Carlos Santos Suede Jodhpurs

It’s been a long time since a Jodhpur graced the shop.

Too long in fact so I decided to step in and correct that.

I found a special, slick model (not the standard 4125) and put our fine C.F. Stead Dark Brown Suede on it.

It remains on the Goodyear Welted Main Range and on the classic 401 Last.

A challenging piece, but very elegant and its success will be down to you all.

Fantastic alternative for Chelsea Boots and extremely versatile.

6. Carlos Santos Handgrade Scotchgrain Monks

One of my favorite is this double monk strap in patina scotchgrain.

Specifically, the Guimaraes color and look how rich the grain is and that burnishing.

It is from the premium Handgrade Range on the 387 Soft Square Last with a leather sole.

Gorgeous model and extremely versatile.

7. Carlos Santos Handgrade Black Derby

Looking back, there have been very few classic derbies in the shop.

In fact, the classic cap-toe derby from long ago performed rather poorly commercially.

Has the perception of people about the derby changed?

Because I think a good one is indispensable and that is why I made sure this one was the best it could be.

Black calf, soft square last, 5 eyelet plain toe derby as a great alternative to the Crockett & Jones Highbury.

Looks good, wears even better.

8. Carlos Santos Handgrade Algarve Oxfords

This is a model I had high hopes for because of it’s main controversial feature.

While it’s a classic balmoral oxford, it has a very special type of stitching which I feel adds to the character.

Finished in Algarve Patina on the 401 Last, it is a lovely model.

It is currently live as GMTO however it did not perform well.

Could it be because of the higher cost associated with the handgrade line?

Maybe next time I will experiment with the main range instead.

9. Carlos Santos Unlined Suede Loafers

Treading on more uncharted territories with my first unlined suede loafers.

The classic 9176 Penny on the 362 last but with no lining for softness and comfort.

Add to that a rather colorful spring/summer suede from the best tanneries and it’s great.

It proves to be a tough sell, so I might be more conservative with the color next time.

10. Carlos Santos Strap Penny Loafers

Continuing the trend from above, but putting a spin on a classic style.

Penny loafers with a nice apron and a special buckle to bring a more fashion forward design to life.

I am more of a tassel loafer guy myself, but I think this one has potential.

It is currently live, but maybe it is not the season yet.

11. Carlos Santos Handgrade Austerity Loafer

Finishing of things with another special loafer.

This one is from the Handgrade Line on a more aggressive, sharp soft square last and has an austerity brogue style design.

It’s in Bordo Shadow Patina to give it a great finish.

Depending on the success of other loafers, it might be on the main range or even in the premium blake construction.

And That Was It!

This was my first collection for the year.
